A master illustrator. This man's body of work is phenomenal. His versatility of style and use of materials is something else. You can buy his book 'An Illustrated Life' here and prints of his here.
Been a while since I put anything up on the blog. Been a busy little bee in the last while, that and enjoying the damn good summer weather.<p>
I came across this guy ages ago and just stumbled across him again today. Niark1 (as you may have guessed) is the name of this illustrator/designer from Paris and damn is he good at his profession. Puke.
I love his style, it reminds me of a lot of street artists/graffitis artists and various artists that turn up in the likes of Juxtapoz mag or FecalFace site. Check himself here: http://www.niark1.com/.

to a video of a mural I completed recently in Dublin called City Links. Heineken put on a competition called Your Heineken, Your City a while back and I won the Dublin section of the competition. The video gives a background to the design that depicts my visual representation of Dublin.
Thanks to Colin in ThinkHouse PR that did a sterling job on the editing of the piece ans a big thank you to Chewy too.
Came across this treasure trove of book cover designs all on one site. I've only had a quick mooch through it so far, but there's bloody heaps to get inspiration from. Very comprehensive catagories to choose what angle you'd like to navigate through all the information on the site too. Two thumbs up.

I was looking for Herb Loobalin’s recently, my studio mate Rob has a copy. It is something else, page after page of impressive typography and illustration. Right up my street.
So, I decided I wanted a copy of my own, I looked online and to my shock and dismay, it cost $140 on Amazon. Faaaak that for a lark. Silly cash.
For those of you whop don't have a that kind of cash to throw around, here is a decent Flickr album dedicated to the book. http://www.flickr.com/photos/nkeppol/sets/72157618401843508/with/3541861878/
Happy oogling.
I havent put a graffiti post up here in a good while. MSK is an international graffiti crew, probably THE flavour of 2009 and 2010 worldwide and so well they might be. The lads that rep it all bring bags of talent to the table. One of the painters that I hold in very high regard is Pose. Not only does he paint banging pieces, he also has a very impressive illustrative style.

Interesting dude, seems like a cool cat that genuinely loves what he does.
Unit Editions, is an English publishing house I have mentioned on this blog before (Supergraphics post). I had a gander for them on Flickr last week and a few really interesting results popped up. A ridiculous amount in fact! Check: http://www.flickr.com/photos/uniteditions/ and you'll have an idea of what I'm on about. Lots of creative brain feed there.
Yusaka Kamekura's book caught my eye as I looked through the treasure trove of photographed books. I've attached a few of the images to this post, the rest are here:

It seem like everything Andy Mangold comes up with is pure gold. I've been looking through his site and I really cant fault a single project. Smart, original, fresh ideas all produced exceptionally well. He reminds me a little of Alan Fletcher’s approach to design. Well considered work that can be appreciated by the masses, not only designers! A veign of thought I strongly believe in.

Heralding from the UK, Olly is probably best known for his iconic and memorable film posters. His series of black and red posters were a massive hit a few years ago when they first came out. Itching to get this man on board for a project of some description in the future.

Came across this cracking studio while having a goo through the popular CMS website: Cargo.
Always With Honor, what a great name for a studio. The work they produce certainly stays true to it. I have to say, I'm really fond of this illustrative style. Flat, clean, tasty vectors. It's amazing to think its the work of three different illustrators, the continuity is very impressive. I also love the fact that their work always has a strong narrative and purpose, not overly self indulgent.

Well there hasn't been much of a squeek out of me in the last ages, I am fully aware of this fact. Foot to the floor, that is what has been going on in the studio these days. Not that I'm complaining at all! I have been loving it. Lots of interesting projects on the go.
The rest of my time (weekends) have been taken up with painting with friends and I've put on an exhibition (LessBut Better see www.curateanddesign.com) since the last time I blogged. It was a success and myself and my friend Shane will defo be collaborating on more in the future.
The exhib was centred around Braun and the imfamous industrial designer, Dieter Rams. There is a limited edition poster for sale if it tickles any of your fancies. Here's the link:

It's a 5 colour A2 litho limited edition print on grey tinted uncoated 270gsm stock. At €20 I think its a bargain.
Lovingly designed by the talented fellows of Conor&David, it reads LESS when you turn your head 180 degrees. Smart in concept and exicution. Bravo lads.
Live at the Marquee, Cork, originated back in the summer of 2005 and was received with great excitement throughout Cork and, indeed, the whole country. With past acts including legends The Who, Bob Dylan, Art Garfunkel, Robert Plant, Paul Brady, Van Morrison, Brian Wilson and Al Green, Live at the Marquee has firmly established itself as a major festival on the international music festival map.
As well as the music, this year a group of illustrators were asked to take part in the festivities. Each artist created a piece inspired by the band or musician on stage. Below are a few links to videos capturing them all at work.
