I first came across this man’s work a number of years ago when he began to receive critical aclaim on The Wooster Collective blog. It was his large scale wheat paste b&w portraits placed all around Paris that caught the Street Art community’s attention. These posters were roughly A0 in size, some times covering a shop front. That was about 4/5 years ago, since then, JR as an artist has evolved at a rapid pace.

The content of JR’s work is still the same (dramatic photographic portraits with a political slant) except now its scale is enormous. It covers buildings, sometimes streets or whole bridges at a time. The purpose of the work a great deal of the time is a celebration of the human spirit through times or situations of strife. Projects in Palestine and the Faveles in Rio are two of many examples to choose from all over the world that highlight this point.

Grant Hamilton shot this series of photos. I've been meaning to post about this lad for a good while, I absolutely love them. Basically they're close crops of graphics on the side of trucks. What an awesome idea. One of those, 'I wish I had thought of that before' ideas. Fair play.

I was lucky enough to see George Lois speak at a design conference called Offset last week. I was familiar with some of his work (Esquire mainly) but not all of what he presented on the day. The man is a serious inspiration to all designers out there. Ideas. Ideas. Ideas. He repetedly stressed the importance of ideas in graphic communication. No cheap tricks using flash-in-the-pan styles, make sure all graphic solutions have a heavy weight idea at their core. Proper order. Too much shite, trendy design out there these days with no substance in my opinion. I am itching to get my hands on his new book. I'd say it's an impressive read, similar to Tibor Kalman's book or Sagmeisters.
His site: http://www.georgelois.com/  where you will see much of his work and you'll find a link to his book. One other interesting point I never knew, the man's mentor was Paul Rand. Right place, right time!

Came across this treasure trove of book cover designs all on one site. I've only had a quick mooch through it so far, but there's bloody heaps to get inspiration from. Very comprehensive catagories to choose what angle you'd like to navigate through all the information on the site too. Two thumbs up.

Gave me a good laugh during the positively hellish, stressful day I was having!

I have to admit that I have a serious fascination with certain antique objects. I collect a few on a small scale. Cameras, clocks, old signage and paper weights are the main contenders. Luckily this fascination has made its way into a project I am currently working on. An identity for a good mate of mine who is a videographer and photographer by trade. As always, I've been loving the research and concept stage of the project. Given my interest in antiques, I was searching Flickr specifically for images depicting old cameras coupled with their old-school branding. A few gems have turned up throughout the process, the main bulk are from this account: http://www.flickr.com/photos/s-demir/

No, this isn't in any way related to the Radiohead track. It is a refering to Tod McLellan’s painstaking photographic pieces. Fair play Todd, you have the patience of a saint!

I've included a few other examples from some of his other projects, hmmmm, it appears that he's not a one trick pony. Dang! The Black and white shots are pin hole shots. I know, the man is bloody good.

I came across Richard's work about a month or two ago while visiting Dublin Contemporary's exhibition in Dublin. His work blew me away. I then forgot about it until stumbling upon it today. I simply must have one of his prints on my walls! For the full shebang: http://richardmosse.com/
